 Elaborately color-printed large paper edition of this collection of fairy tales, in a 1908 custom binding for a Nottinghamshire private school. A collection of tales centered around the fairie court of Prince Prigio of Pantouflia by Andrew Lang, the fairytale taste-maker of late 19th and early 20th century British nurseries. 8.5'' x 6''. Early 20th century quarter vellum, black goatskin spine label, blue cloth boards stamped WEST END SCHOOL / BEESTON / VERITAS SINE TIMORE / 1908. Lavishly illustrated by Dixon with 12 color plates and color pictorial boards on every page of text, printed on coated paper. 112 pages.  Interior bright.

A stunningly lovely heirloom edition of this classic collection from Andrew Lang.  In pristine condition.  This is a book that exemplifies the incredible binding and gold tooling work from London in the late 1800's.  Included is a Pegana Press Letterpress print by Charles van Sandwyk entitled "The Old Man of the Sea."
