"The Conqueror Worm" was first published in 1843 and subsequently woven in to the story Ligeia in 1845. Ligeia later became part of Tales of Mystery and Imagination editions, the most well-known being devilishly illustrated by Harry Clarke. A recently rediscovered manuscript copy of the poem was used to reflect the original content, punctuation and signature of Poe with his middle name abbreviated.
